Gary McCoy, 24, Shot On North Crest Road Thursday Night

Gary McCoy, 24, was shot Thursday night.
 
Chattanooga Police responded at 10:51 p.m. to a person shot on the 100 block of North Crest Road. Chattanooga Police were originally dispatched to a burglary in progress call at this location.
 
Upon arrival, police determined that the would-be burglar was actually the victim of a shooting who was attempting to seek assistance from the occupants of the home.
 
He knocked on multiple doors of the home in an effort to have the occupants call police to assist him. When knocking proved to be ineffective, He then shattered a glass sliding door with a lawn chair in an effort to activate the alarm.
 
HCEMS transported the victim to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators were able to locate the original crime scene nearby. Members of the Violent Crimes Bureau are investigating this incident and following all actionable leads.
