Delia "Bea" Deck
Delia Beatrice "Bea" Smithson Deck, 90, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018.
She was a member of the Ridgedale Baptist Church. Bea worked with Combustion Engineering and retired after 37 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Deck, Jr., parents, David and Gertrude Dean; an infant daughter, Davette Smithson; two brothers, Homer Stanton Dean and J.C. Dean; and one sister, Derrell Lee Dean.
Left behind to cherish Bea’s memory are her son, Alvin Smithson, Chattanooga; grandson, Michael (Christina) Smithson, Denver, CO.; brother, Roy Dean; sister, Shirley (Dale) Johnston, both of Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved companion, Kimmie.
A Celebration of Bea’s Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, with Dr. Bill Owens officiating. The family will receive friends from 4–8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17. She will be laid to rest in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
