CSO Presents Compose Yourself Feb. 11

A Family-Friendly Symphony Event

  • Monday, January 15, 2018

The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera will present their annual family-friendly symphony event, Compose Yourself, on Sunday, Feb. 11, at 3 p.m. at the Volkswagen Conference Center.

Conducted by CSO Music Director Kayoko Dan and narrated by Carey Shinbaum, Compose Yourself is a 50-minute concert designed to introduce young audiences to the wonders of a symphony orchestra. Audiences are also exposed to the compositional process, resulting in a unique work created each and every concert.

Crafted specifically for children, this concert features bottle-music, hosaphones, snake-charming oboes, powerful trumpets, and more, making learning fun so that children are loving and laughing about classical music throughout the event, said officials.

“Our family concert is a great opportunity for kids to be introduced to the symphony and the various families of instruments,” says CSO Executive Director Samantha Teter, “Music lovers of all ages will be entertained by this concert.”

Pre-concert activities will start at 2 p.m. with an interactive instrument petting zoo. Tickets are $5 for children and $25 for adults and can be purchased by calling the CSO Box Office at 267-8583 or online at www.chattanoogasymphony.org. Tickets will also be available at the door the day of the concert.
