BlueCross Sells Huge Tract Along River For $8.1 Million

  • Thursday, January 18, 2018

BlueCross BlueShield has sold a huge tract along the riverfront in Lupton City for $8.1 million.

The purchaser is listed as Riverton LLC., 651 E. 4th St., Suite 403, Chattanooga.

BlueCross had bought the 216-acre site in 2001 as a possible site for its corporate headquarters.

However, it wound up building a $299 million campus on Cameron Hill instead.

BlueCross started actively marketing the property in 2014, listing it for $10.1 million.

NAI Charter Realty at one time appeared to have the property sold, but an Augusta developer backed out on the purchase.

BlueCross bought it from Dixie Yarns, which formerly operated a mill nearby.

It includes the nine-hole Dupont Golf Course.

There are 154 acres on the river, making it a prime development spot.

The purchase covers five different parcels.
