Emma Mae Smith Bowles Petty, 91, passed away on January 23, 2018.
Survivors include her seven children; Nettie Welch-Wright, Martha Jones, Brenda Bowles, Irvin (Rita) Smith, DarleneSmith-Shackelford and Tracy (RaeAnn) Petty, all of Chattanooga, Bernard (Kim) Petty Jr., of Indianapolis; brother, Jerome Smith, of Buffalo; brother-in-law, Elder Jonas Butts; sister-in-law, Ida Smith, both of Chattanooga; nine grandchildren, Tulai (Stencil) Parrish, Mark Jones, Ariunne (Jermichael) Daniels, Brandeis (Antonio) Sandefer, Morgan Smith, Kellsey Smith, Jordan Smith and Doris Sales, all of Chattanooga, Bernard Petty III, of Indianapolis; seven great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; special cousin, Isabella Lane; special niece, Airene Butts; dear friend, Richard Williams, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The body will lie in state after noon on Sunday, Jan. 28, at the funeral home.
A homegoing celebration will be held at noon on Monday, Jan. 29, at the New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 2809 13th Ave., Chattanooga, with Elder G.M. Spotts officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
