Richard “Dick” Nelson, Jr., 87, of Chattanooga, passed away on January 30, 2018.
He was born July 7, 1930, in Detroit to the late Claudia Hall Nelson and Richard Lawrence Nelson, Sr.
In 1950 he became employed by E.I. DuPont, of Chattanooga, where he worked for 35 years, with a three-year interruption for military service.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dolores Wallace, and wife, Reba Moore.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Ronald Gaskins, M.D.; sisters, Jackie Fowler and Joan Long; his former wife, Madelyn Taylor; stepson, Rodney Jones; his aunt Naomi Brown; several nieces and nephews, and his devoted friend and caregiver, Dorothy Carden.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 2, at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Allen Goolsby officiating. Interment and military honors will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
