Barbara Ophelia Garrett Slaton, 74, of Chickamauga, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 29, 2018. She was a lifelong resident of Chickamauga and was of the Christian faith. Barbara was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and aunt, who will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Slaton, Jr.; father, Hubert Elmer Garrett; and brothers, Clarence Garrett and Wayne Garrett.
Barbara is survived by her mother, Dovie Ophelia Golden; children, Sarah (Sonny) Crowe, Robin (Pladys) Sneed, Jimmy Hurst, all of Chickamauga and Kristen (Jeremy) Born of Rock Spring; brother, Johnny Garrett; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1 in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Travis Rodgers officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the service on Thursday.
