A man on bond for statutory rape was arrested Monday on new charges after a woman said he choked her and was "acting crazy."

Police said Rodriquez Davar Jones, 25, also ran across Morrison Springs Road during a foot chase and caused numerous vehicles to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting him.

Jones was charged with domestic assault, evading arrest, interference with an emergency call, kidnapping, disorderly conduct, robbery and possession of marijuana.

Police responded at 4 p.m.

to an address on Mountain Creek Road after the 33-year-old woman said she was afraid for her life. She called from the office of an apartment complex.

She said Jones was armed with a gun and was wearing a red hoodie.

Arriving officers spotted him leaving the scene. Officers yelled, "Police Stop," but he ran through the apartment complex, across Morrison Springs Road and onto the Red Bank High School football field. He was eventually captured at the football field.

Police said when he was running across Morrison Springs Road "multiple cars slammed on their brakes to avoid hitting him and almost caused multiple accidents putting multiple people's lives in danger. Lanes of traffic came to an abrupt halt with tires squealing."

Officers said Jones threw items at them during the chase. It was later found that he was throwing cell phones.

Jones was found to have marijuana on him along with the victim's wallet.

Police said he was charged with felony possession of drugs because he had drugs on him in a school zone and he had a prior drug conviction.

The woman said Jones was yelling at her and threatening her. She said when she went to call 911 he took the phone from her and threw it on the floor. He reached in her pocket and took her second phone as well. He then broke the home phone.

She said he then locked the front door - the only door to the residence - and would not let her and her child leave.

Residents at the apartment complex said Jones had banged on their doors and tried to get inside while he was trying to evade police.

The Hamilton County Grand Jury indicated Jones last June on charges of statutory rape and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

He was also indicted for possession of marijuana.

The indictment said Jones on March 25, 2017, engaged in sex with a girl at least 15 but less than 18.
