The Chattanooga Fire Department responded on a two-alarm fire early Monday morning when there was a report of a house ablaze and a child trapped inside. It turned out that all family members were safe and the fire was quickly extinguished.
At 1:06 a.m., units responded to
1703 Rubio St. Due to the possibility of a child entrapped, the second alarm was called. Engine 4, Engine 5, Quint 10, Engine 15, Squad 1, and Battalion Chief's 1,2, and 3 were dispatched.
Due to the second alarm, Quint 1, Quint 2, Ladder 1, Engine 12, and Squad 7 responded. as well as the Chattanooga Police Department, Hamilton County EMS Medic 13 and 14, and the EMS Supervisor. As the first arriving company
Engine 4 reached the scene and reported heavy fire and smoke.
Engine 4 and Engine 5 started an initial search in the rear of the house. As additional fire companies arrived they were given assignments. While searching and suppression activities were occurring the family notified command that all family members were located and accounted for.
Due to the quick response of the fire department along with CPD and EMS the fire was quickly extinguished and the family was checked. Red Cross was notified by the fire department and arrived on the scene to support the family that was displaced and lost their belongings.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries.
