Charles “Randy” Layne, 74, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018.

Randy was a Grundy County native, but lived in Chattanooga for 47 years. He was a member of Lakeway Baptist and retired after more than 30 years as an iron worker where he was a member of the Local 704. Randy was an avid farmer and coon hunter and also a Vietnam veteran having served in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Watson and Elsie Layne; son, Charles Nolan Layne; several siblings.

Randy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jane; son, Kyle (Staci) Layne; daughters, Shawn Layne, Cathy (Jim) Gilliam and Patti Layne; granddaughters, Savannah Layne and Emma Gilliam; grandsons, Cody, Matthew, Alex and Jacob Layne; two great-grandsons.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, Oct. 11, from 4-8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home, Highway 58.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 12, at noon with Minister Steve Highlander officiating in the Turner Funeral Home Chapel. Randy will be buried at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
