The Covenant women's soccer team sent its senior class out in style with a 10-0 rout of LaGrange on Saturday afternoon in USA South action at Scotland Yard.

Covenant (8-6-1, 5-2 USA South) recognized its six seniors (Rachel Lemay, Carter Steedley, Hannah King, Grace Buys, Gina Hungerford, and Lizzie Bird) before the match. All six have played a role in the program's success over the last four years as the team has accumulated 42 victories during that stretch.

When the match started on Saturday, it was clear who the better team was.

Kailey Burrell scored two goals and eight other Lady Scots found the back of the net.
Burrell opened the scoring with her unassisted goal in the 12th minute and then added a second score in the 52nd minute to help Covenant to the win. Burrell now has eight goals on the year, second on the team.

Just 24 seconds after Burrell scored the first goal, Kyra Duble scored to make it 2-0. Duble got a short pass from Addy Cronan and worked her shot past LaGrange keeper Emma Smith for the score, her third of the year.

It was the seniors' turn later in the first half. Steedley notched her second career goal as she got a pass into the box from Cronan and found the back of the net to make it 3-0 in the 17th minute. In the 28th minute, Buys got a pass from Paige Simons and scored from close range to make it 4-0. The goals for Steedley and Buys were their first of the season.

Hannah Rodehaver would cap the scoring in the first half when she knocked in a shot on a short cross from Sarah Agee to give the Lady Scots a 5-0 lead in the 30th minute. The goal was Rodehaver's first collegiate score.

Covenant outshot LaGrange 25-0 in the first half, with eight of those shots coming on target.

In the second half, Burrell scored in the 52nd minute, assisted by Bird, and that was followed by a Molly Kate McClearn score in the 68th minute. The goal by McClearn was her second of the season. In the 81st minute, Simons found the back of the net, assisted by Elsa Woody, for her second goal of the year.

The final two scores came from seniors to cap the win. Bird scored after a through ball from Bethany Caudal in the 88th minute, her first goal of the season. Hungerford then capped the scoring with a header off a corner kick from Agee in the 90th minute.

It was Covenant's first 10-goal match in over four years, and the first at home since 2008. The Lady Scots' last scored 10 or more goals in a match on Sept. 26, 2014 at Mary Baldwin, a 12-1 victory.

The Lady Scots outshot LaGrange 41-1 on the day. Lemay made one save for Covenant, while Smith made nine for the visiting Panthers (4-8-1, 1-5 USA South).

Covenant will travel to take on Emory on Wednesday in Atlanta. Match time is set for 7:30 p.m.
