Lee Runners Fourth, Fifth At Royals XC Challenge

 The Lee University Cross Country teams completed their non-championship portion of the schedule at the Royals XC Challenge. The Flames placed fourth and the Lady Flames were fifth.

Christian Noble led the 15th-ranked Flames toward accumulating 133 team points. He placed first out of 395 runners with a new Lee record time of 23:27 in the 8K race.

No. 7 Queens University was the team winner with 58 points, while Mount Olive was second (62) and Morehead State (NCAA DI) finished third (73).

Caleb Eagleson gave Lee two runners in the top-15 with a 12th-place finish (24:21).
Jared Herzog was 38th (25:06) and Casey Guthery was 44th at 25:08. Ben Tabor was the final Lee scorer at 25:12 (52nd).

Dawson Reed and Silas Eckenroad acted as the spacers. Reed finished 80th (25:35) and Eckenroad was 90th (25:40). Moises Ponce crossed the finish line at 25:56 for 120th. Andrew Hendry placed 156th at 26:24. Ben Gilman posted a time of 27:57 to finish 264th.

The 20th-ranked Lady Flames placed three runners in the top-25 of the 5K race on their way to accumulating 153 team points.

NCAA Division I programs Davidson (112) and Morehead State (117) were first and second, respectively. SCAD Atlanta, ranked No. 3 in the NAIA, tallied 125 points for third. No. 17 Queens University was fourth, while No. 24 Mount Olive placed sixth (208).

Chloe Flora was the first Lee athlete across the finish line. Her time of 17:29 put her in eighth overall in a field of 412. Hannah Steelman of Wofford was the individual winner with a mark of 16:27.

Charlee Boxall was 21st with a time of 18:00 and Amy Carpenter posted a time of 18:04 to finish 24th. Logan Hernandez and Becca Umbarger were Lee’s final scorers. Hernandez (18:30) was 48th and Umbarger finished 58th (18:42).

Blakely Moore stopped the clock at 19:08 to finish 97th. Cate Gifford’s time of 19:27 put her in 125th. Audrey Royer was right behind at 19:29 (127th). Lacey Duvall completed the course at 19:46 (155th).

The Flames and Lady Flames return to action on November 3 with the Gulf South Conference Championship. The championships will be hosted by Mississippi College at Choctaw Trails in Jackson, Miss.
