Mocs Softball Announces Spring Schedule

  • Saturday, October 13, 2018

The Chattanooga Mocs softball team will host 22 games inside Frost Stadium this season including the annual Chattanooga Challenge (Feb. 15-16) and Frost Classic (Feb. 22-24) as well as the Southern Conference Championships (May 8-11) for the 11th time in program history.

“We’re excited to release the schedule on our ‘Blue/Gold’ weekend, it’s always a great weekend for Mocs softball,” said head coach Frank Reed.

“It looks like a challenging schedule for us in 2019, but we’re definitely up for that challenge.”

Chattanooga opens up the season February 8th in nearby Kennesaw, Ga., at the KSU Tournament against Ohio.

They’ll face Morehead State, Eastern Illinois and Kennesaw State to close out the opening weekend.

Frost Stadium will see its first action on February 15th and 16th with the Chattanooga Challenge. Participating teams include Tennessee Tech, Dayton, Indiana State and Kennesaw State.

The Frost Classic will take place the following weekend, February 22-24, and will feature seven teams. Alongside UTC, Creighton, Western Michigan, Ohio, Eastern Kentucky, SIU-Carbondale and Evansville will all visit the Scenic City.

Following the Frost Classic, Chattanooga will begin its annual Florida tour, spanning from March 1st though the 17th, with stops in Medeira Beach and Clearwater. The Medeira Beach tournament runs from March 1-3 ahead of the USF Invitational in Clearwater, which runs from March 8-17.

The Mocs open up Southern Conference play on the road, March 23-24 in Greenville, S.C., against Furman. They’ll return home March 30-31 for a three-game series against defending SoCon champion UNCG.

Southern Conference action for UTC will continue on April 13-14 in Macon with three games at Mercer before Western Carolina comes to Frost Stadium on April 19-20. Chattanooga and ETSU will meet in Johnson City on April 27-28 before conference play wraps up at Frost against Samford on May 4-5.

Chattanooga will host the Southern Conference Championships for the 11th time in program history, most among all SoCon-member schools. The tournament will run from May 8-11 inside Frost Stadium.

“We’re excited about the Southern Conference Championships being held in Chattanooga this year. There’s no better place than Frost Stadium to hold the championship, so we’re excited to have our fans come out and cheer us on during the most important time of the season,” added Reed.

Ticket information will be available on GoMocs.com in the coming weeks.
