Horror Film White Zombie Screens At Heritage House Thursday

  • Monday, October 15, 2018

The Classic Bela Logosi Horror Film White Zombie will be shown at Heritage House in East Brainerd on Thursday at both 2 and 7 p.m.

Review for White Zombie:

This ghoulish, still-chilling low-budget classic boasts one of Bela Lugosi's finest performances as the homicidal madman ruling over a tiny tropical island.

Drenched in atmosphere, the film tells the story of Murder Legendre (Lugosi), who helps a wealthy fellow claim an unwilling girl by turning her into a living-dead zombie, until realizing that he would rather keep her for himself.

Directed by Victor Hugo Halperin, this early horror classic features "the divinely satanic-looking Bela Lugosi sinking his teeth into his best role since Dracula as a languorous hypnotist and voodoo master who dominates the film with his assured bearing and cruel control,” said Sean Axmaker with Parallax View Magazine.

It is rated 89 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and will be presented from a newly restored Kino 4K master.

Heritage House Arts & Civic Center is at 1428 Jenkins Road.  Admission is free.  For more information call 855-9474, email kjones@chattanooga.gov or visit the Facebook event page
