The Colonnade Players Present Songs For A New World

The Colonnade Players, by special arrangement with Music Theatre International will bring Songs for a New World to The Colonnade Stage in November. Under the direction of James Ogden and musical direction of Terry Sanford, a cast of four men and four women will bring the music and lyrics of Jason Robert Brown to life.

Review for Songs for a New World: 

This song cycle weaves together stories of everyday people in their search for a new world and a better life. From the opening song about the promise of a new life in America (On the Deck of a Spanish Sailing Ship, 1492) to songs about love (“I’d Give It All for You”) and death (“Flying Home”), the music and lyrics reveal songs about hopes and dreams, and fears and failures.

The songs reveal hopeful expectations and harsh realities faced in the everyday struggle of discovery, becoming and belonging. The story travels through time and circumstance to portray the hopes, dreams, struggles, failures and triumphs t hat all light the way to a new world. 

Cast members are Haley Blake, Hannah Hale, Eric Jackson, Julianna McKenna, Joseph Watts, Kenya White, Jennifer Wilson and Jonathan Wilson. 

Show dates and times are Nov. 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 7: 30 p.m. and Nov. 4 and 11 at 2:30 p.m. Ticket prices are for reserved seats with prices ranging from $13 to $17 depending on seating preference.
