Austin Berry scored two second half goals, and assisted on another score, as the Covenant men's soccer team used a strong second half to defeat LaGrange, 3-0, in USA South action on Wednesday afternoon at Scotland Yard.

Covenant (10-5-1, 7-2-1 USA South) has won three straight matches and reaches the double-digit win plateau for the first time since 2014.
The Scots are now 11-0 all-time against LaGrange (9-6, 4-5 USA South).

Played to a scoreless tie in the first half, Covenant surged ahead with three goals in a span of over eight minutes in the second half. Berry scored the eventual game-winner in the 64th minute to put the Scots ahead 1-0. Parker Owen won back the ball outside the box and chipped it towards Berry who put a shot past LaGrange keeper Cory Aycock for the score.

Just over five minutes later, the Scots were at it again. Off a deflected free kick, Noah Lee serviced the ball into the box where Berry headed a pass to Keegan Weekley, who took a shot and scored from 12 yards out to make it 2-0 in the 69th minute. The goal was Weekley's third of the year, while Lee and Berry both received credit for an assist on the play.

Berry then put the match out of reach in the 72nd minute. LaGrange failed to clear the ball from Covenant's attacking third and Berry collected a deflection and rocketed a shot past Aycock for the score and a 3-0 advantage. The goals for Berry gives him four on the year and it was the freshman's first collegiate two-goal match.

Over the past two matches, Berry has scored three times and has been involved in four of Covenant's five goals.

Covenant held a 20-5 shot edge over LaGrange and took 12 corners, compared to the visiting Panthers' one. Paul Lemay recorded his fourth shutout of the year as he tallied a pair of saves in the win. Aycock made four saves for LaGrange.

Josh Brower took five shots for Covenant, while Mercer Stout had three attempts.

Covenant will host William Peace on Saturday at Scotland Yard in a key USA South match. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
