Rees Skillern Cancer Institute At CHI Memorial To Host "PROMPT" Party

  • Thursday, October 18, 2018
Rees Skillern Cancer Institute at CHI Memorial will host a PROMPT party on Friday, Oct. 26 from 2-3:30 p.m. in the Rees Skillern Cancer Institute’s Cancer Risk and Survivorship Center, Suite 307 of the Memorial Plaza building.  PROMPT, which stands for Prospective Registry of Multiplex Testing, is a patient-driven registry that will help answer questions about genetic test results.

PROMPT is a collaborative effort between academic institutions and commercial labs.  The registry provides those who have alterations in genes associated with cancer risk, physicians and researchers a place to share information that will lead to a better understanding of genetic changes and help researchers develop a way to manage risks associated with those alterations.

During the PROMPT party at Rees Skillern Cancer Institute, participants will be guided through the enrollment process and meet others who may have a genetic risk for cancer.  Participants will provide data by filling out a questionnaire about their personal and family health histories.  Participants need to bring their own laptop or tablet, test results, and pedigree which is a picture of your family’s medical history.  Staff will be available to help each person enroll.

There is no charge to attend.  Light snacks will be provided.  For more information, call 423-495-GENE (4363).
