Donald (Don) Coy Douglas, age 72, of Dalton, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his father, Coy Douglas; and mother, Bertha Jo Douglas.
Don loved and knew Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was an active member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. As a young man, he served in the Army National Guard. He loved family, farming, camping and hunting. Don retired from B & J Machinery where he served as plant manager for many years. He was an avid cattleman and the biggest fan of his grandchildren. He was a loving husband of 53 years to his wife Donna, a wonderful father, and devoted grandfather.
While Don will be remembered for many things, we will particularly remember his contagious laughter, his hugs, his stories of life on the farm, and the fact that he never met a stranger.
Don is survived by his wife, Donna (Denson) Douglas of Dalton; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Debbie Douglas of Dalton, Mark and Christina Douglas of Richmond Hill, and Brad and Lindsay Douglas of Dalton; grandchildren, Jake Douglas, Shelby (Douglas) Holley and her husband, Adam, Judd Douglas, Grace Douglas, Will Douglas, Tyler Douglasand Levi Douglas: sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Harold Brooker and their family; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Judy Douglas and their family.
The funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Mullis officiating. Burial will be in United Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home on Sunday from 5-8 p.m.
