Gene Roberts from Pye Kia presents the keys to a 2019 Kia Sorento to Nikita Jordan, director of Georgia Sheriffs’ Cherokee Estate and MountainView. Looking on, from left, are Alan Kendricks, tournament director for the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Home Golf Tournament, Murray County Sherriff Gary Langford, and Whitfield County Sheriff Scott Chitwood. The vehicle could be won during the local benefit tournament.
The Annual Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes Golf Tournament, sponsored by Indian Trace Golf Course, has been set for Friday, Oct. 12 at Indian Trace in Chatsworth.
If a golfer is able to hit a hole-in-one on the 18th hole at Indian Trace during the tournament, they will win a 2019 Kia Sorento from Pye Kia in Dalton. Closest to the pin prizes will also be awarded.
Proceeds for the four-person select shot tournament will benefit the children who call Georgia Sheriffs’ Cherokee Estate in Dalton and MountainView in Chatsworth their homes. Shotgun starts will be at 8 a.m.
and 1 p.m.
Cherokee Estate was originally founded in the 1950’s as Cherokee Boys Estate, after community leaders recognized the need for a home for youth with parents who were unable to take care of their kids. The facility in the Beaverdale community is now primarily a home for girls. MountainView in Chatsworth is a newer boys’ home. Nikita Jordan is the long time director of both homes.
Ms. Jordan says the tournament will benefit from hole sponsors and teams who participate in the event. “It’s not too late to get involved,” said Ms. Jordan. “You can help provide a safe, loving environment for these deserving children.”
A $500 team fee includes entry of one four-person team, lunch, tournament favors, one mulligan and one red tee. Hole sponsors are also needed. For more information on the tournament, call 706-259-8581.
