Ooltewah High School Student Arrested For Making Threats On Instagram

  • Friday, November 9, 2018
Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office patrol personnel were called to a residence Thursday evening in reference to a perceived, generalized threat toward students at Ooltewah High School, after concerns about an anonymous Instagram account was discovered circulating among OHS students.

Detectives from the HCSO began an investigation and a male juvenile student at OHS was identified as being responsible for the posting. The results of the investigation determined there were no means to carry out a threat in the possession of the student and he was arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center where he was charged with making false reports.

The HCSO makes an effort to investigate any threat, real or hoax, especially those directed towards the safety and welfare of children.
Each threat is taken as serious and criminal charges are typically considered when these type of incidents occur due to the potential of public alarm and disruption to normal school activities.
