East Brainerd Community Theater will present its production of Wit, the Pulitzer-prize winning one act play by Margaret Edson, Feb. 22-25. Performance will be at Christ United Methodist Church, 8645 East Brainerd Road.
Wit tells the story of 50-year-old English professor Dr. Vivian Bearing after she has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. As she nears the end of her life, she starts to ask hard questions about what she did wrong and what comes next.
Wit Director Katie Olsen said, “It’s not a story about cancer. It’s a story about what’s important in life.”
In conjunction with the production, CUMC’s cancer support group Supporting Our Sisters will help with concessions and ticket sales. Supporting Our Sisters provides education, promotes awareness and offers hope and encouragement to women coping with cancer. All donations before and after the show will go to support SOS.
Wit will be presented Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22, 23 and 24, at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee, Sunday, Feb. 25, at 2:30 p.m. Advance tickets available online through Eventbrite for $10 (plus service fee). Tickets can be purchased at Christ UMC lobby Monday-Wednesday, Feb 19 -21. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door for $15.
