Brainerd Farmers Market To Open April 21

The Brainerd Farmers Market is set to open Saturday, April 21, and be open Saturdays through Dec. 8 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

The Farmers Market features a healthy variety of locally grown fruits and vegetables, meats, eggs, locally crafted goods and prepared foods. 

The market provides debit, credit, EBT and SNAP services to vendors and patrons throughout the Primary Market Season. Through its partnership wiht AARP and Wholesome Wave, the market grants double fresh savings produce vouchers to all EBT/SNAP customers every Saturday during the Primary Market Season.

The market is located in the parking lot of Grace Episcopal Church at the corner of Brainerd Road and Belvoir Avenue.

Restaurant Planned In Long-Abandoned House On Willow Street

A restaurant is being planned in a long-abandoned house on Willow Street. Matthew Ballard said he bought the house at 1302 Watkins in 2016 at an IRS tax sale. The City Council on Tuesday night approved UGC zoning for the property so the restaurant operation can go forward. Man And Woman Killed In Sunday Morning Shooting At Hixson Gas Station

A man and a woman were killed in a Sunday morning shooting at a gas station in Hixson. The shooting was shortly after 10 a.m. at a Shell station at Hixson Pike and Brookaire. The woman was dead at the scene. The man was rushed to a hospital, but died there. (click for more)
