Janie Ocellian McGowan, 89, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.

She was the daughter of the late Roy and Mammie McGowan and was preceded in death by three brothers, Lester, Richard and Leonard McGowan and two sisters, Marie Pack and Louise Wiggins.

Janie was of the Church of God faith.

Survivors include her five children, Barbara (Jerry) Clift, Robin (Dale) Watts, both of Ooltewah, Lonnie (Diane) Almond, Chattanooga, George (Freida) Almond, of Ooltewah, Connie (Steve) Dowdy, of Ringgold, 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, sister, Mary Bingham, of Ooltewah, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Reverend Donnie Holder officiating. Burial will follow in New McDonald Cemetery in Ooltewah.

The family will receive friends from 4–8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, at the funeral home.
