District 4 County Commissioner Warren Mackey announced Thursday that he is running for re-election.

He said, "Since I have been elected to office, Hamilton County has become the only county (there are 95 counties) in the State to achieve an AAA bond rating. I have been a watchdog over governmental spending by serving on the finance committee every year since taking office.

"Also we have created an economy that is very healthy with good jobs and new homes and businesses emerging every day.

We have made Hamilton County’s government more efficient as evidenced by things like combining the 911 services. Apparently these policies are working since as of February 2018 unemployment in Hamilton County is an enviable three percent.

"Why am I running?

"I want to continue my efforts of

(1) helping to bring jobs to Hamilton County,

(2) embracing policies to create a healthy environment to promote business growth,

(3)  working to strengthen the schools and workforce, and

(4) promoting fiscal responsibility with the county's tax dollars.

"Without doubt, Hamilton County is faring quite well.  But there are too many people who are being left behind. While I have fought to help improve the plight of the working poor, I pledge that I will redouble my efforts of helping to make Hamilton County a great place to live, play and work for everyone."
