Ruth “Elaine” Hinson

Ruth “Elaine” Hinson, 88, of Ten Mile went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at her residence with loved ones by her side. She was a beloved wife and mother who was intelligent and a fountain of strength.

Elaine was born May 1, 1929 in Bay Minette, Al. to Arthur and Addie Ruth Billy. She had three brothers and six sisters, of which she is survived by her sisters and one brother.

She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Neal Armstrong and her second and forever loving husband, William Hinson and a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Armstrong.

In addition to siblings, she is survived by her sons, Ronald Armstrong (Sharon), Billy Armstrong, Lane Armstrong (Lucy) Chris Hinson (Connie); a daughter, Ginger Hinson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

This beautiful and cherished woman is loved by many and will be greatly missed. The earth is a better place for Elaine’s brief moment in time here. To tell her life’s story in this brief space is impossible. Suffice it to say that heaven gained an angel today.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 24, from 12-2 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Decatur.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. with Rev. Fred Billy officiating. Interment will follow in Decatur Cemetery.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Hospice of Chattanooga for their loving care.
