Cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Richard Morrison celebrated the grand opening of his private practice, Morrison Heart Center, on Thursday with a ribbon-cutting event sponsored by the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce.

Among those in attendance were Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke, Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger, Hamilton County Commissioner Joe Graham and Colonel Wayne Rich, who attended on behalf of State Representative Mike Carter.

“I came by to say thanks because you have affected my life and my family’s life,” said Mayor Berke after sharing how his grandfather had a successful heart surgery performed by Dr. Morrison. “On behalf of not just my family, but many families in our city, we appreciate the great work that you’ve done.”

County Mayor Coppinger added, “When you talk about thoracic specialists here in Hamilton County, Dr. Morrison’s name, as you all know, is synonymous with that. I mean everybody always thinks about what Dr. Morrison means to this community, the lives  he saved and how he has given back.”

At this new location, Dr. Morrison offers a patient-centric style of cardiac surgical service to Chattanooga and the surrounding areas. Rather than traditional exam rooms, the office space features cozy furniture and facilitates the one-on-one conversation that is essential to the practice’s thoughtful approach to health care, said officials.

Morrison Heart Center is at 6031 Shallowford Road, Suite 117 and is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information, call 498-3570 or visit MorrisonHeartCenter.com.
