It’s going to be a fun-filled summer for CFC Women fans. Even though the WPSL Southeast Conference stands at five teams, GM Hammel has arranged for a total of thirteen matches for CFCW’s FIFTH SEASON.
The pre-season will include a Grudge Match with Lee University. This match should prove exciting as Lee ended their 2017 season in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA DII Championship. Additionally, they intend to dress CFC Women vets Anna Lanter and Jules Kaset.
CFC Women will also play Asheville City SC in the inaugural women’s Blue Ridge Derby.
2018 will be Asheville City SC’s first season, and CFCW is looking forward to maintaining an established derby with them.
Back by popular demand is the Blue v White match. CFCW fans reported enjoying the friendly contest in 2017. This match will showcase all of the team’s roster, as well as include the competitive Little Debbie component.
The WPSL regular season kicks off on May 20 in FINLEY STADIUM when CFC Women take on Emerald Force SC (formerly Knoxville). Emerald Force has consistently proven themselves high-level competitors, and The Blues are looking forward to the certain challenge. Besides the conference matches scheduled with Emerald City SC, Nashville Rhythm, Memphis Lobos, and Peachtree City MOBA, CFCW added an away match with Alabama FC to ensure The Blues stay in fighting condition during a conference bye week.
The CFCW v Alabama FC match on May 26 will be held at Columbus State University and is a WPSL highlight game at the Georgia Youth State Cup. Over 120 youth teams will be present. All CFC 2018 Season Wristband wearers will get into the match for free.
A post-season friendly was also added this year. On July 8 CFCW will host Cincinnati Sirens FC. The Sirens have proven themselves strong WPSL competitors and lay claim to the WPSL careers of USWNT’s Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe and recently retired Abby Wambach.
As a reminder, season pass wristbands start at only $29.00, and will admit you to EVERY home game, which is an average of $4.14 per match. Individual tickets will be $7 each online or at the gate.
