Rosie Mae Spate
Rosie Mae Spates, age 89, of Chickamauga, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018.
She was born on April 30, 1930 and was a member of Cove Road Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elgie Spates, Sr.; son, Elgie Spates, Jr.; mother, Viola Moten Langston; father, Alfred C. Langston; and sister, Alma Bell Montgomery.
She is survived by her children, Towanda Wooten of Hutto, Texas, Sheran Jones of Jackson, Michigan, Carolyn (Robert) Suttle of LaFayette, Teresa Rogers of Rome, Ga., Rosie Lee Ransom of Chickamauga, Henrietta (Ulysses) Hawkins, Celeste (Bradford) Hinton of LaFayette, Kathleen (Thomas) Lewis of Chickamauga, and Earl (Brenda) Spates of Grand Lodge, Mi.; twenty-three grandchildren; forty-five great-grandchildren; eighteen great-great-grandchildren; brothers, James (Lonnie) Langston and Frank Langston of LaFayette; sister-in-law, Linda Spates of LaFayette; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 3, at 2 p.m. at Cove Road Church of God, 616 N. Chattanooga St., LaFayette, with Pastor James Brown and other ministers officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
