David Ballard Arrested For Aggravated Riot At Hamilton Place Mall

David Ballard, 18, has been arrested for aggravated riot, alteration of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm, stemming from the incident at the Hamilton Place Mall on Saturday.

Chattanooga Police David Chief Roddy said some callers from the mall at the time of the incident shortly after 6 p.m. reported there was an "active shooter." He said police evacuated the mall in order to help search for a possible shooter.

He said Hamilton Place Mall officials afterward chose to close the mall for the evening.

The incident caused a stampede of customers from the mall, and one juvenile female was injured during the exodus.
