Hamilton County May Primary Political Candidate Forum Set For March 26

  • Tuesday, February 27, 2018

The League of Women Voters of Chattanooga will partner with The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Chattanooga Chapter, Inc. to host a Hamilton County May Primary Election Political Candidate Forum. All qualified candidates have been invited to participate in this political forum.

The forum will be moderated by retired educator Edna Varner, who currently works for the Public Education Foundation and is involved in community service in Chattanooga.

The forum will take place on Monday, March 26, at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church, 1734 E. 3rd St. from 5-7:30 pm.

The political candidate forum will operate with standing rules for all participants, which will limit the length of introductions, opening and closing statements, and responses to questions so that everyone may have time to speak.  The audience will be able to submit questions which will then be screened to eliminate duplicates. At the conclusion of the forum, candidates and participants are free to interact as they desire.

This political candidate forum is nonpartisan. Neither the LWV Chattanooga nor the NCBW Chattanooga Chapter endorses candidates or contributes to political campaigns.  The goal of this forum is to provide a venue for public education about candidates’ platforms, enabling voters to make informed decisions.  The public is urged to attend and participate in getting to know candidate platforms, goals, and qualifications.
