Four Mocs Named To SoCon Women's Post Season Teams

 University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior Keiana Gilbert was named to both the Southern Conference Coaches and SoCon Media All-Conference teams today. She was joined by senior Aryanna Gilbert, sophomore Lakelyn Bouldin and freshman Bria Dial.

Keiana Gilbert earned a spot on the Southern Conference Coaches and Media First Teams. She led the Mocs in scoring this season. She ranks fifth among Southern Conference players with 14.4 points per game and is third for the Mocs in rebounding.
She matched her career-high for scoring twice this season, leading UTC to a win over Indiana with 27 points and again when the Mocs hosted East Tennessee State. She recorded her first career double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds against Furman and rained down a career-best five 3-pointers at Stetson. 

Gilbert was twice named the Southern Conference Player of the Week and College Sports Madness Player of the Week. She led Chattanooga to the Challenge in Music City Challenge with wins over Northwestern, Georgetown and Auburn and earned Tournament MVP honors. She ranks 11th all-time at UTC with 1,377 career points.

Aryanna Gilbert was named to the SoCon Coaches Third Team. She has started all 28 games for UTC this season playing both guard and forward. She has two double-doubles with her first coming at Florida with 20 points and 12 boards. Her second came in an overtime win against Samford at the Roundhouse. She dropped in 25 points, one shy of her career-high, and added a career-best 13 rebounds. She was named the College Sports Madness Player of the Week and earned All-Tournament honors at the Florida Gator Holiday Classic.

Gilbert is second on the team in scoring and rebounding with 12.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. She is shooting 87.5 percent from the free throw line, second in the SoCon, and has 37 buckets from long range. She ranks fifth in the league from the arc making 35.9 percent of her attempts.

Lakelyn Bouldin was named to the SoCon Coaches Third Team. She ranks third for the Mocs in scoring with 12.3 points per game and leads the Southern Conference at the free throw line making 88.4 percent of her attempts. She has a UTC-best 59 3-pointers.

Bouldin scored in double figures 17 times. She had a career-high 32 points to lead the Mocs to a win over Hampton and had a career-best six 3-pointers in the win while adding seven rebounds and was 8-of-9 from the free throw line.

Bria Dial was selected to the Southern Conference Coaches All-Freshman Team. She made nine starts in 27 games played this season. In her firs 40-minute game, she scored a career-best nine points and grabbed seven rebounds in the Mocs’ win over Florida. She has 20 blocked shots this season, ranking 11th in the league standings.

Mercer’s Kahlia Lawrence was named the Player of the Year by both the coaches and media and the Bears’ head coach Susie Garndner was named Coach of the Year by both.

ETSU’s Erica Haynes-Overton earned Freshman of the Year in both polls and was named the Coaches Defensive Player of the Year. Teammate Malloree Schurr was Awarded the Ann Lashley Inspiration Award.

Lawrence was joined on the first team by her teammates Sydni Means and KeKe Calloway, ETSU’s Tianna Tarter and Gilbert. All five were also selected First Team by the SoCon Media.
 
Both polls included Haynes-Overton, Furman’s Cierra Carter, UNCG’s Ije Ajemba and Nadine Soliman on the Second Team. The league coaches picked Wofford’s Da’Ja Green to the Second Team while the media added Samford’s Hannah Nichols.

Nichols was a Third Team selection for the SoCon Coaches. She was joined on the list by Gilbert and Bouldin and Furman’s Le’Jzae Davidson and Celena Taborn.

UTC finished third in the Southern Conference standings and will take on sixth-seed UNCG Thursday at 5:45 p.m. in the quarterfinal round of the Southern Conference Tournament. All games will be played at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, N.C. Tickets are on sale now.
