Lawrence Lee McDuffy, 80, of Chattanooga, entered into eternal life with his lord on February 4, 2018. 

Lawrence was born on September 24, 1937 to the late Robert Ezekiel McDuffy and Odessa Gant in Chattanooga. After the death of his parents, Lawrence’s grandmother, the late Mary Gant continued the parenting of Lawrence and his sister Mary Aline. In 1956, Lawrence was inducted into the United States Air Force. 

In 1983, Lawrence married Gennell Woods, who preceded him in death. Preceding him into eternal life were two siblings, Mary Aline and Lonnie. 

Lawrence is survived by his devoted children, Teresa (Joe) Moorer, Cynthia (Langston) Walker of Atlanta, Angela Mallard, Julian De’Juan of Atlanta, Sandra Ballard, and Torrance McDuffy of Cleveland, OH; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a devoted neighbor and friend, Joann Sanders; as well as cousins, a host of friends and associates. 

He will lie in state on Thursday at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with the funeral to follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Elder Lyndon Clay as the eulogist. Burial will be in in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
