The Lee lacrosse team fell to the University of Montevallo on Saturday afternoon, 24-16 in Gulf South Conference action.
Lee (4-3, 0-3 GSC) was paced by Emma Hill who scored five goals and Becca Broadwick who tallied four. Kaylyn Dillon and Hannah Rotello threw in two goals apiece, while Brianne Schapira, Madeline Perrigo, and Abbie Mercuri all had one as well.
Montevallo (4-4, 1-2 GSC) jumped out to an early lead and scored three goals, two from Jami Hudak, just over six minutes into play.
Lee was able to answer back with goals from Hill and Dillon two minutes apart to cut the gap to 2-3.
Montevallo and Lee would trade goals over the next couple of minutes before Lee would go on a five-goal run led by Hill and Rotello to take an 8-5 lead.
Montevallo's Janey Johnson would score a goal with just 32 seconds remaining in the half to send the Lady Flames into the locker room with an 8-6 lead.
The Falcons answered back with a second half storm and outscored the Lady Flames 18-8 to win the game. Montevallo was aided by runs of three, four, and five goals in the second half, and three man up goals, because of three Lee yellow cards.
Coach Addie Wadley's squad was able to outshoot their opponents (43-42), have a better clear percentage (21-23 compared to 22-27), and picked up more ground balls (38-31).
Montevallo was paced by Johnson who scored six goals on the day. Caleigh Sppon, and Nicole Pahnke both scored five goals apiece.
Abby Sanders had eight saves and allowed 19 goals and registered five saves in 50 minutes. Christa Hill worked the last 10 and allowed five goals and had two saves.
Lee will be back in action on Wednesday Mar. 14 as they travel to take on Reinhardt University at 5 p.m. before traveling to GSC rival Shorter on Mar. 17 with first draw at 1 p.m.
The Lady Flames end their road trip, and return to the South Quad Field on Mar. 21 as they get a rematch with the Falcons with opening draw coming at 4 p.m.
