Betty JoAnn Self, age 81, of Dalton, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Hamilton Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Rosie Caylor; grandson, Adam Steadman: and sister, Wanda Larmon. 

Mrs. Self was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and foster mother to many children. She loved all creatures great and small.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Cecil Self of the residence; seven daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Warren Steadman of Dalton, Deborah and Timothy Porter of Cohutta, Becky Self Phillips of North Wilkesboro, N.C., Melissa and Justin King of Dalton, Rose and Donnie Elrod of Cartersville, Shanna Self of Dalton, Megan Self of Dalton; four sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Glenda Self of Dalton, Steve and Teresa Self of Dalton, Danny and Lynn Self of Rocky Face and Rodney Lamar Self of Dalton; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Yvonne Nichols of Cisco, Janice Scott of Chatsworth, Rita and Larry Cockburn of Crandall and Peggy and Bennett Langham of Chatsworth; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

The funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Self will be held Thursday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Self and Rev. Donald Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery.
