The Dalton Police Department is investigating two people who stole more than $1,000 in cologne from an area store, and detectives hope someone from the public will recognize them.
The theft happened at the Walgreen’s at 1247 West Walnut Avenue on Feb. 27, and was reported on March 1. Shortly before 8:30 p.m., a man and a woman entered the store together and went to the perfume and cologne section. Using a key, the pair unlocked the display case and removed 24 units of men’s cologne. Store management did not know how the pair got the key, but told an officer that many stores use the same type of key in their display cases. The pair then went to a different area of the store and cut the tags off the boxes and then left the store. In all, the stolen boxes of cologne were valued at $1,461.
The man wore a blue jacket over a pink buttoned-down shirt and a Pittsburgh Pirates flat billed baseball cap. The woman wore dark-rimmed eye glasses and a green patterned top with a jacket.
Anyone who recognizes these suspects or who has information on this crime is asked to contact Detective Brian Shirley at 706 278-9085, extension 9189.
