Donald E. (Roe Hoe) Akins, 77, of East Brainerd, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at his home.

A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, he retired from Swift & Co. after 30 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Birch and Bertice Akins; brother, Kenneth Akins; and sisters, Patsy and Nellie Ann Akins.

Survivors are four sisters, Betty Reneau, Ooltewah, Joyce (Wayne) Dupree, Balm, Fl., Geneva (Jim) Pack and Helen Thompson, all of Chattanooga; four brothers, Bill (Teresa) Akins, Ringgold, Tommy (Dorothy) Akins, Soddy-Daisy, Gordon Ray (Deb) Akins, Cleveland, and Jack (Reba) Akins, Ringgold; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 17, at 2 p.m. at Boynton Cemetery with Reverend Eddie Ellison officiating.
