Joan Albury-Pinder
Joan Albury-Pinder, 84, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in Chattanooga.
She was born and raised in the Bahamas, attended nursing school in NYC, practiced nursing in Nassau, Bahamas, Glasgow, Scotland, and New York City. She attended Lincoln School for Nurses, Bronx, NY in 1955-58 and received her RN degree. She was retired as assistant director of risk management at Metropolitan Hospital, NYC in 1995.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Joanna Bethel; former husband, Francis Albury; son, Keith Albury; brothers, Leonard “Bud”, Tellis, and Leander Bethel, all from The Bahamas.
Survivors include husband, Percy Pinder; daughters, Michele Albury (James) Pickett, and Lois (Kathy) Albury: sisters, Lady Jacqueline Fawkes, Susan Wallace, Mizpah Bartlett, Eunice Sands, Lois East, all from The Bahamas; granddaughters, Noah and Elena Pickett, Chattanooga, Jordan Hutchins, Leeds, Ma.; multiple nieces, nephews, extended family, and New City East Lake Church Family.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, March 19, at New City Fellowship- East Lake.
The body will lie in state on Sunday, March 18, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 4-5 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
