Bonnie C. Montgomery, 81, died on February 27, 2018.
Born in Lee County, Al., and raised Chattanooga, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Cleo Wright. A proud 1954 graduate of Howard High School, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Tennessee State University and a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 44 years, Grover “Billy” Montgomery, and two brothers, Alonzo Wright, Jr., and Carl Wright.
She is survived her devoted daughter, Felicia Montgomery; son, Michael (Vanessa) Montgomery; five grandchildren, Jordan Dandy, William, Miya, Jarred, and Collin Montgomery; loving sister, Inetta (Robert) King of Chattanooga, great-grandchild, Harmony-Jai Dandy; brothers, Wilbert Wright and Richard (Anita) Wright, Dayton, Oh.; sisters-in-law, Reatha Montgomery, Hampton, Va., Lillie Montgomery, San Antonio, Tx., and Darlene Wright, Dayton, Oh.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Omega Omega Service will be held on Sunday, March 4, at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at St. Elmo Baptist Church at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 5, with Pastor Billy E. Church officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
