Fire Destroys Home In Soddy Daisy Friday Morning

  • Friday, March 2, 2018

A Soddy Daisy homeowner called 911 at 6 a.m. on Friday, reporting his back porch was on fire.

Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department responded to 2001 Green Pond Road and reported the three-story house was fully involved with fire.

The Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department immediately requested a Mutual Aid response for additional manpower and apparatus. The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department and Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.

The Soddy Daisy Fire Department was on stand by for any additional calls in Sequoyah’s district.

Due to the steep and curvy terrain, firefighters had a challenge getting the fire engines and water tankers up the driveway. Firefighters also had to lay 600 feet of hose line in order to get water up to the house.

No injuries were reported. Fire officials confirmed a heating lamp for the dogs started the fire on the back porch. The house is a total loss and damages are listed at $375,000.

The American Red Cross will be assisting this family with their emergency needs.
