Signal Centers And Tech Goes Home Partner To Help Students

  • Wednesday, March 21, 2018

The first graduation of Signal Centers’ families to complete the Tech Goes Home early childhood program will be on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Signal Center, 109 N. Germantown Road.

Students need access to internet, devices and apps to learn new skills and even complete homework. Children without access often quickly fall behind their peers, said officials.

The Tech Goes Home program, in collaboration with Signal Centers, equips families with tools, training and access by offering:

15 hours of training from Signal Centers staff on how to use an iPad to enhance their child’s ability to learn and read, as well as navigate community resources

Help accessing discounted internet

The option to buy a new iPad mini for $50 after class completion

Seven families have completed the program, are now eligible for discounted internet and a new iPad, and will be graduating.

“Technology can light the fire of an inquisitive mind," said Signal Centers CEO Donna McConnico. "Tech Goes Home has helped Signal Centers’ families use technology to inspire learning in early childhood. It has been delightful to watch parents and children work together to safely build access to the world of knowledge available on the web."
