Willie J. Brown
Willie J. Brown, 86, passed away on March 20, 2018 in Chattanooga. He was born June 27, 1931 in Chester, SC to the late Colonel and Maggie L. Brown.
After serving four years in the U.S. Navy, he attended Tennessee State University, where he was a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 30 years of service as a switchman.
He was preceded in death by a sister and brother.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley H. Brown; sons, Anthony J. “Tony” (Lisa) Brown, and Michel D. Brown; daughter, Lindella J. (James) Brown; grandsons, Anthony J. (Ranece) Brown, Jr., Chase Robinson, Blake and Aiden Brown; sister, Magaline Bonam Robinson; four nieces and six nephews; other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Monday, March 26 at the funeral home. Viewing will begin at 9 a.m. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-noon, followed by a 12:30 p.m. graveside service at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
