The Chattanooga Women’s Leadership Institute announces the selection of Kim Shumpert as executive director.

Mrs. Shumpert will fill the vacancy beginning May 1, working with the board of directors and leading 680+ members and overseeing the leadership training, mentoring programs and networking opportunities.

"Prior to joining CWLI, Mrs. Shumpert managed the development team at Bethel Bible Village, dedicated to innovative solutions built to sustain the organization for years to come, and over the past year engaged almost 300 new partners for the organization’s mission.

"Before her time with Bethel Bible Village, Mrs. Shumpert served as an executive director twice, most recently with CityYouth from 2013-2015 and with Paces from 2007-2009, where she honed her leadership skills.

"Her work with these organizations emphasized strengthening the capacity of vulnerable women and children to overcome barriers to success," officials said.

“Kim will be an excellent leader for CWLI,” said the organization’s board chair Ronelle Sellers. “Her prior experience, drive and dynamic personality are a perfect match for the direction the organization has been moving. We are thrilled about her vision for the future of this organization and are eager to work with her to further CWLI’s efforts for women in leadership.”

"For the past year, Mrs. Shumpert has served on CWLI’s development committee, which aided in her realization of the vital role the organization plays in keeping the Chattanooga community focused on inclusion, creativity and high-quality leadership. Beyond her successful career achievements and CWLI volunteer work, Mrs. Shumpert currently serves on the AFP board of directors and on the Signal Mountain schools event committee," officials said.

“It is an honor to be selected as the executive director of this incredible organization,” said Ms. Shumpert. “I am eager to work with the inspiring members, volunteer leadership and corporate partners to help navigate the programming and networking opportunities to best serve the women in our community and encourage women in leadership.”

Mrs. Shumpert completed her undergraduate degree in public administration in 1998 from Harding University, graduating cum laude, and earned a master’s in public administration in 2016 from Arkansas State University, where she graduated magna cum laude.

Mrs. Shumpert says she was thrilled to return to her hometown of Chattanooga in 2016. She resides with her husband Brad and two daughters on Signal Mountain.
