Southern Miss got on the board first in the bottom of the third when runners double stole from first and third, resulting in a late cut-off throw to the plate from the Mocs.

Chattanooga answered with three runs in the top of the fourth to take a 3-1 lead. Aly Walker roped a single back to the pitcher to plate the first run before Brook Womack drove one in the gap a batter later, scoring a pair of runs to make up the trio.

The Golden Eagles would add a run in the bottom of the fifth by way of another double steal from first and third on a late throw to the plate.

OM continued its offensive attack in the bottom of the second with a two-out, three-run homerun to center field, building a quick 6-0 lead after two frames. They would add two more runs in the third inning on an RBI double and an RBI groundout to extend their lead to 8-0 before a two-run homerun in the fourth made it 10-0.

Chattanooga rallied to try and extend the game in the top of the fifth, putting two runs on the board, but stranding a runner on second to end the game as a mercy rule defeat.
