Rev. H. Fred Johnson, age 83, of Dalton, went to Heaven on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Southern Haven Assisted Living.

He was preceded in death by sister, Joyce Maddox.

Rev. Johnson pastored several churches in the area including, Boynton UMC in Ringgold, Dawnville UMC, Tunnel Hill UMC, and Trinity UMC.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Evelyn Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jeff Phillips of Dalton; three sons, Michael Johnson, Philip Johnson and Kelly Johnson, all of Dalton; six grandchildren, Jenni, Andrea, Ashlee, Taylor, Morgan and Reed; six great-grandchildren, Emma, Jacob, Annalea, Brielle, Brynlee and Callee.

The funeral service to honor the life of Rev. Johnson will be held Tuesday, March 6, at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Phil Demore and Rev. Hoyt Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in the Dawnville United Methodist Church Cemetery. 

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Trinity UMC, 901 Veterans Drive, Dalton, GA 30721.

The family will receive friends at funeral home Monday from 6-8 p.m.

Red Bank Finalizes 20-Cent Property Tax Increase

The Red Bank commissioners voted Tuesday night to adopt the fiscal year 2018-2019 budget that includes a property tax increase. Mayor John Roberts said that along with the increase in both commercial and residential development, comes increased traffic.
