Whitfield County Residents Can Get A Free Weather Radio Saturday

Thursday, March 8, 2018

The Whitfield County Emergency Management Agency will be giving away 175 NOAA Weather Radios on Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon at Mack Gaston Community Center in Dalton.

The radios are programmed to alert for severe weather in Whitfield County and will be presented to residents on a first-come, first-serve basis, one per household, with proof of residency. If you received a radio from EMA in the past two years, you will not be eligible to receive another at this event.

Whitfield EMA received a grant from Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security to purchase and distribute 600 NOAA Weather Radios. Other dates and locations for giveaways will be announced soon.

"Spring is just around the corner - and so is our peak tornado season. A NOAA Weather Radio can alert you when there is severe weather, including tornado warnings.  We want you to be prepared for any weather that Mother Nature brings us," officials said.
