Pensacola, Fla. - In a showdown of the defending Southern League champions, Pensacola used stellar pitching and timely hitting to squeak past the Lookouts, 6-5, Wednesday night. Daniel Wright (1-1) neutralized Chattanooga's bats through six innings.

He held the defending North Division champs to just one run on three hits while striking out three.  

 

The Wahoos used small ball to open the scoring in the third. third off Lookouts starter Zack Littell (0-1). Pensacola added two more in the fourth. 

 

Starter Littell racked up an impressive 10 strikeouts over just four innings pitched, but he also gave up three runs on seven hits and a walk.

 

It appeared Pensacola put the game out of reach when Gabrielle Guerrero crushed his first home run of the season off Zack Jones in the seventh to make it a 6-1 lead.  

 

The Lookouts saved their best for last with a furious ninth-inning rally that included a three-run home run to T.J. White to make it a 6-4 game. Chattanooga added another run before Tanner English struck out to end the game.

 

 Both Todd Van Steensel and Jones allowed runs in relief, but the Lookouts pitching staff combined for 16 strikeouts on the night. 

Both Zander Wiel and Nick Gordon picked up multi-hit games on the night, whileWhite launched his first homer of the season.
