Weekly Road Construction Report

Here is the weekly road construction report for Hamilton County:

I-75 North Exit 1 interchange reconfiguration project at mile marker 1:   Work on this project continues. There is now only one exit ramp that allows drivers to turn both east and west on Ringgold Road at a signalized intersection. Traffic has been shifted onto the newly constructed portion of Camp Jordan Pkwy., and the intersection (I-75 NB off-ramp and SR-8/Camp Jordan Pkwy.) is now controlled by a traffic signal. US-27 (I-124) widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge:   Work on this project continues. The contractor has closed the 12th Street tie-in ramp to US-27 South. This closure will be in place until May 2018. Traffic from 12th Street will be detoured to Carter Street and then to Westbound MLK where motorists may access the US-27 South on-ramp. Detours are posted. Motorists should exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone and pay close attention to the detour signage posted. The speed limit has been reduced from 45 MPH to 35 MPH between Main Street and 4th Street on US-27 North. The speed limit on US-27 in the rest of the construction zone remains 45 MPH. Weather permitting, the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7 p.m.-6 a.m. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on US-27. THP will assist with traffic control on the project as necessary. RESTRICTIONS: I-124 (US-27) Northbound Exit 1C 4th Street Off Ramp. No oversize/over-dimensional loads. Width Limit is 11 feet. Utility Work on SR-312 (MAHAN GAP RD.) northbound from LM 14.33 to LM 14.33:   Approx. 0.1 mile west of the intersection with SR 58 TVA will be preforming aerial line work. Signage with flagger support, temporary delays. Local police authorities will monitor traffic flow at a reduced speed during construction. Work to begin Wednesday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.  [UO 2007050839-2018]  

Utility Work on SR-58 (HWY. 58) northbound from LM 16.41 to LM 16.41:   SR58 approx. 0.14 miles Northeast of the intersection with SR 312 TVA wll be preforming aerial line work. Local Police Authorities will monitor traffic flow at reduced speed during construction activities. Signage with flagger support. Work to begin Tuesday 7 a.m.-5 p.m. [UO-2007050837-2018]  

SR-320 (East Brainerd Road) grading, drainage, installation of signals, construction of seven retaining walls and paving from east of Graysville Road to east of Bel-Air Road:   During this report period, the contractor will have intermittent lane closures between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. This work may affect either direction of East Brainerd Road or side streets from Graysville Road to Bel-Air Road. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.  Estimated project completion date is June. [Jones Bros. Contractors, LLC/Pruett/CNN383]  

SR-58 intersection improvement at Champion Road:   During this report period, the contractor will have lane closures between 9 a.m.-7 p.m. This work may affect either direction of SR-58 at the Champion Rd. intersection. No lane closures will be in effect from 5-9 a.m. in the southbound direction and from 3-6 p.m. in the northbound direction. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed. Poplar Springs Road In Catoosa County To Be Closed July 15-16

The Catoosa County Public Works Department has scheduled road repair and storm drain replacement work on Poplar Springs Road between Three Notch Road and Talley Circle. 5 People Shot On Cowart Street Early Sunday Morning

Five people were shot on Cowart Street early Sunday morning.   At approximately 2:55 a.m., Chattanooga Police responded to the area of 1400 Cowart Street on reports of multiple people shot. Body Of Robert Townsend, 60, Found In Dumpster On Laura Street

The body of Robert Townsend, 60, was found on Friday in a dumpster on Laura Street.   At approximately  11:19 a.m. , Chattanooga Police were dispatched to a deceased party in the 2500 block of Laura Street. Here We Go Again With The Same Cummings Highway, 12th Street Flooding

Here we go again with the same pitiful news reports about the Cummings Highway Interstate interchange with I-24 - Flooding yet again after a heavy rain.  TDOT is derelict in not having repaired this years ago.  How hard is it to get some excavators out there to dig up the collapsed drainage pipes which TDOT says are the cause of the flooding and replace them with ...
