Rain Forces Cancellation Of Furman Softball Series

Sunday, April 15, 2018

Sunday’s scheduled resumption of game two and the originally planned series finale between UTC softball and Furman have been cancelled due to weather and will not be rescheduled for a later date.

Chattanooga (21-22, 6-4 SoCon) claimed a 2-0 victory in game one on Saturday before game two was suspended in the bottom of the third inning. They finished the series 1-0 and continued their Southern Conference winning streak of six games while winning seven of their last eight overall.

UTC currently sits in third place in the league standings, trailing leader UNCG (9-1) and second place Mercer (7-1). Chattanooga and UNCG are set for a three-game series in Greensboro this upcoming weekend.

Sophomores Aly Walker and Celie Hudson provided the Mocs with stellar games during yesterday’s game one win. Hudson took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning and Walker belted a two-run, walk-off homerun in the bottom of the seventh to earn a 2-0 win over Furman.

Game two of the doubleheader was suspended in the bottom of the third inning with Furman leading 7-4. The game will not be made up due to the cancellation and will go down as a no result.

Chattanooga hosts Tennessee State  on Wednesday for a non-conference showdown at Frost Stadium at 6 p.m. Tickets are available on GoMocs.com or by calling the ticket office at (423) 266-MOCS.

UTC will head to UNCG this weekend for a key three-game SoCon series on Saturday and  Sunday.

Here We Go Again With The Same Cummings Highway, 12th Street Flooding

Roy Exum: The Saturday Funnies

(Roy Exum took a fall, on his newly-operated knee on Friday, and will be out for a few days. This is one of his Saturday Funnies from a few months ago.) It is purported that “The Letter from The Sick Bed” came from the hand of Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, and while I can find no evidence this is true, its message is one we should never ignore in this week’s version of “The Saturday ...
