William Earl Russell, Sr., age 77, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 14, 2018, after a long battle with cancer with his family at his side at home.

He was a member of North Whitfield Baptist Church, a prominent business man for over 40 years in Tunnel Hill owning Russell Chenille, Town & Country Pillow Inc. and DRRLLLC. He was a man loved by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Gladys Russell; and sister, Geraldean (Perry) Putman.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Ruth Russell, married for 57 ½ years of Tunnel Hill; his daughter, Janet Doris Leonard; his son, William Earl “Bill” Russell, Jr.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Tabitha Jan Leonard and Josh Crider, Amber Fallon Russell and William Matthew (Amanda) Russell; five great grandchildren, Chassidy and Elainea Crider, Myleigh Jane North, Kenzie Lynn and Kase William Russell; three brothers and sisters in law, Larry and (Darlene) Russell, Jack and (JoAnn) Russell, David and (Angie) Russell; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie Grooms, Darlene and (Jim) Cutler and Beverly Russell; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 17, at 2 p.m. in the Rocky Face Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Lillard Stringer and Rev. Ronald Guffey officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in East Ridge.         

The family will receive friends at Julian Peeples Funeral Home on Monday from 5-9 p.m.
