Free Smoking Cessation Courses Begin In May In Ooltewah And Ringgold

CHI Memorial’s Rees Skillern Cancer Institute offers a free seven-week Freedom From Smoking program. The program helps participants learn how to beat tobacco addiction, lifestyle changes that make quitting easier, stress management, how to avoid weight gain and how to stay smoke-free for good.

"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates more than 16 million Americans live with a disease caused by smoking. It is the leading cause of preventable death, according to the American Lung Association," officials said.  "Freedom From Smoking is an American Lung Association program that has helped more than one million Americans overcome an addiction to nicotine during the past 30 years."
 
Two sessions will start in May.  On Tuesday, May 1, the program begins at CHI Memorial Family Practice Associates – Ringgold, CHI Memorial Pkwy., 4700 Battlefield Parkway, Suite 200.

The class is offered every Tuesday for seven weeks from 4-5:30 p.m. 
 
On Thursday, May 3, the program begins at CHI Memorial Family Practice Associates – Ooltewah, 6401 Mountain View Road, Suite 109.  The class is offered every Thursday for seven weeks from 4-5:30 p.m.
 
The program is designed for a small group setting.  Anyone who has a desire to stop smoking should call 423-495-7778 to register for a class at a location convenient to you.  There is no charge for the program.
